Q: Is Cartrack approved by my insurance company?

Yes. Cartrack is approved by all major insurance companies.

Q: Does my insurance company offer a discount to me when I install a Cartrack unit in my vehicle?

Yes. Insurance companies do offer a discount when Cartrack units are installed in vehicles, thus ensuring you receive cheaper car insurance.

Q: Do you work with the SAP?

The in-house recovery team have developed a close working relationship with the SAP, and regularly recover vehicles with the SAP’s assistance.

Q: How do I activate my unit?

All Cartrack units are active upon installation.

Q: How do I go about testing my Cartrack unit?

All Cartrack units are automatically tested on a regular basis. However, the onus still remains on you to test your units regularly. You can do this by contacting the Control Room on 0861 22 78 72, and asking for your unit to be tested, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Q: Is there a charge for testing my Cartrack unit?

No, it’s completely free of charge.

Q: What if my vehicle should be stolen?

Phone the Cartrack Control Room immediately, and confirm the theft. The recovery team will be mobilised in the event of a known theft or hijacking, and you will be kept informed of the progress.

Q: Do I need to be in a certain area, or at a certain location, before I can test my unit?

No. You are welcome to test your unit wherever you are situated. Provided there is GSM coverage, the test can be completed.

Q: Can I install a Cartrack unit on my tractor?

Yes, Cartrack’s devices can also be installed on heavy machinery, commercial vehicles, trucks and trailers, along with family sedans.

Q: Do you have cross-border coverage?

Every Cartrack unit is equipped with international roaming capabilities, and can therefore be tracked beyond South Africa’s borders where roaming arrangements exist.

Q: Is there a fee for my vehicle to be recovered?

No, with the exception of the Fleet Lite which does not include Stolen Vehicle Recovery. Should you request a recovery on a Fleet Lite unit, you will be liable for the full cost of recovery.

For a cross border recovery there may be a cost to repatriation, depending on the country and its regulations.

Q: Does Cartrack offer a 24 hour recovery service?

Yes. Cartrack recovery agents work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Q: Does the unit need to be serviced?

No. however, we advise you to test your unit after booking your vehicle in for a major service or mechanical work, or following a major accident.

Q: Does Cartrack position my vehicle in outlying areas?

Cartrack utilises the latest GSM and RF technology to position vehicles in all areas where there is GSM coverage, including across borders into countries where Cartrack has agreements with the networks.

Q: Will Cartrack give my location to anyone other than me?

No, unless you require a recovery service, in which event our recovery crew will be informed of your whereabouts. You can set a password to access your account, but anyone phoning in will be required to identify themselves before any information is relayed.

Q: Does the unit interfere with the vehicle’s warranty?

No. We are supported by the major manufacturers within the motor industry.

Q: Do I have to take my vehicle to a Cartrack fitment centre?

No. Our technicians are mobile, and will meet you at a place and time convenient to you.

Q: Do you have access to a helicopter?

Cartrack has full ground and air coverage, along with its own in-house recovery team.
